Botox

Botox treatment involves injecting small amounts of botulinum toxin into specific muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the targeted muscles, causing them to relax and soften. This treatment is commonly used on areas such as the forehead, crow's feet (around the eyes), and frown lines. Besides cosmetic use, Botox can also treat medical conditions like chronic migraines, excessive sweating, and muscle spasms.

1. How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

The contractions and movements of the facial muscles are controlled by signals from the brain. BOTOX® Cosmetic simply prevents the muscle from responding to these messages. As a result, the muscle relaxes and the overlying skin remains unwrinkled and smooth.
With a very fine needle, BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the specific muscle that is contracting and causing the lines and wrinkles on the face. Immediately following a quick, safe treatment, you may resume regular activities.

2. What is usage of BOTOX® ?

Botox is used for both cosmetic and medical purposes:

  • Wrinkle Reduction: Reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and fine lines, such as forehead lines, crow's feet (around the eyes), and frown lines between the eyebrows.

  • Facial Contouring: Softens the jawline or enhances facial symmetry by relaxing specific muscles.

  • Gummy Smile Correction: Reduces excessive gum visibility when smiling by relaxing the upper lip.

  • Eyebrow Lift: By injecting Botox into the muscles that pull the brows downward, it relaxes them, allowing the forehead muscles to lift the brows slightly. This reduces the appearance of hooded eyes and frown lines.

  • Jaw Reduction and Bruxism: Botox is used in jaw reduction to create a slimmer and more contoured facial appearance. This procedure is particularly effective for individuals with a square or bulky jawline caused by enlarged masseter muscles, often due to genetics or habits like teeth grinding (bruxism).

  • Hyperhidrosis/excessive sweating: helps control the condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the excessive sweating stops.

  • Chronic Migraine Relief: Reduces the frequency and severity of migraines in individuals who suffer from chronic migraines.

3. What is the downtime after BOTOX® treatment?

The downtime for Botox treatment is minimal. Most people can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur but usually resolves within a few days.

4. Follow these post-treatment care guidelines to optimize the results of BOTOX®:

Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours.

Refrain from lying down or engaging in strenuous exercise for 4 hours.

Avoid hot showers, saunas, and facials for 24 hours.
